The first customer was having issues of H2S leaks during start up after a T/A. They tried using
the standard plug washer set up then the plug Kammprofile combo set up. They were experiencing leaks
with both versions. The leaks were costing the refinery roughly 1 million per day every day the unit was
down. We were reached out to last minute and provided them with 15 modified plugs and change
gasket combos. Once they were installed on the bad actors they had no further issues with leaks. On the

The second customer was having issues with plug leaks on a diesel exchanger. They tried both
variations of the original plug and washer and plug and kammprofile both were unsuccessful. The
exchanger had 1500 plugs and the plant was experiencing 300 leaks. To mitigate the plug leaks the plant
had to run at reduced rates.
The plant decided to replace all of the plugs with the modified plug and Change gasket kits.
After start-up, they only had 14 leaks which were due to installation issues. They are very impressed with
the performance of the kits since installing the new plugs the unit has been able to run at max rates if
desired. The plant plans to do a full conversion next T/A.
We are currently working with a sister site experiencing the same leaks on similar exchangers.
Those are set to be installed in January of 2022.

This customer came to us because they were having various leaks after trying both options of
plug and washer and plug and kammprofile gaskets. They were interested in the new design and
decided to use it on the bad actors. For our latest design, we decided to utilize the outer ring of the
Change Gasket and incorporate a kammprofile to make it a dual sealing gasket. This also prevents any
problems that may arise due to installation. The customer is very impressed with the results and plans to
convert all of the plugs to the upgraded gasket/plug kits.
